Custom Hair Patch vs Hair Weaving / Tracking
BeforeAfterThe short answer
Adhesive on skin recovers; traction on follicles often does not
Weaving keeps adhesive off the scalp entirely, which is a real advantage if your skin reacts. That is the case for it, and it is a legitimate one.
The case against it is traction alopecia. A woven track holds continuous tension on the same anchor hairs for weeks at a time, and the damage that causes is permanent in a way adhesive irritation is not. We do not offer weaving for that reason, and if you have fine or thinning anchor hair we would actively advise against it anywhere.
Side by side
| Custom Hair Patch | Hair Weaving / Tracking | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | ₹8,000 – ₹32,000 | ₹6,000 – ₹20,000 plus tightening every 6–8 weeks |
| Timeline | Turnaround: 12–15 days for a fully custom order, or same-day with a stock base | Time to result: Same day |
| Best for | Men with crown or mid-scalp thinning who want density back without surgery or medication. | Adhesive-sensitive wearers with strong anchor hair who want continuous wear. |
| Wrong choice if | A crown or mid-scalp patch is the wrong purchase if your loss has already reached the front hairline. Covering a crown while the temples keep receding creates a visible density mismatch that no amount of styling hides, and you will be paying to replace the patch with a toupee within a year. If your recession is past the mid-scalp, order the toupee now. | Anyone whose own hair is fragile. Permanent traction damage is a real and common outcome. |
The case for each
Custom Hair Patch
A made-to-order hair patch cut to a mould of your own scalp, matched to your existing hair in colour, density, curl and hairline shape. Non-surgical, reversible and ready to wear the same day it is fitted.
In its favour
- Scalp template taken by hand, so the patch sits flat with no lifting at the edges
- Hair matched from a cut sample of your own hair — colour, grey percentage, wave and shine
- Choose skin, mono, lace or a hybrid base depending on how much you sweat
- Fitted, cut and styled in one sitting so you walk out finished
Against it
- A crown or mid-scalp patch is the wrong purchase if your loss has already reached the front hairline. Covering a crown while the temples keep receding creates a visible density mismatch that no amount of styling hides, and you will be paying to replace the patch with a toupee within a year. If your recession is past the mid-scalp, order the toupee now.
- It is also the wrong purchase if you are in the early diffuse stage with hair still covering the area. A patch bonded over living hair means bonding adhesive against follicles that are still working. In that situation we usually recommend waiting, or a clip-in topper if you want coverage without commitment.
Hair Weaving / Tracking
A system tied or stitched into your existing hair along a braided track, so nothing is bonded to the scalp and the unit stays on continuously for weeks.
In its favour
- No adhesive touches the scalp at all
- Stays on through washing, sleeping and exercise without re-bonding
- Suits people with genuine adhesive sensitivity
Against it
- Sustained traction on the anchor hair, which can cause traction alopecia
- The track loosens as your own hair grows, so tightening is not optional
- Scalp underneath is hard to clean properly between appointments
How we would decide it with you
At a consultation this is settled by looking, not by discussing. We assess the loss area in daylight, check the hair around it, and ask how you actually live — how much you sweat, whether you ride, whether you swim, whether anyone sees you at conversation distance all day.
We sell hair systems, so read the verdict above with that in mind — but we turn away work regularly when the alternative is genuinely the better answer, and we would rather tell you that now than after you have paid us.
Still not sure which?
Tell us your stage of loss and we'll give you a straight recommendation between these two — including when the answer is neither.
Custom Hair Patch vs Hair Weaving / Tracking — FAQs
- Custom Hair Patch or Hair Weaving / Tracking — which is better?
- Neither is universally better. Weaving keeps adhesive off the scalp entirely, which is a real advantage if your skin reacts. That is the case for it, and it is a legitimate one.
- Which costs more, hair patch or hair weaving?
- Custom Hair Patch: ₹8,000 – ₹32,000. Hair Weaving / Tracking: ₹6,000 – ₹20,000 plus tightening every 6–8 weeks. Comparing headline prices is misleading on its own — the number that matters is the twelve-month cost including servicing and replacement, and the two options are rarely on the same replacement cycle.
- Can I switch from one to the other later?
- In most cases yes, and plenty of clients do exactly that. Nothing here is a permanent commitment except surgery and micropigmentation, both of which are worth being certain about before you start.
