The number nobody advertises: cost per year
Every price you see advertised for a hair patch is the unit price. It is not what wearing one costs. The honest figure is the unit plus twelve months of servicing plus consumables, and it is roughly double the headline in a coastal city.

Where cheap systems actually cut the cost
A ₹6,000 patch is not a scam and we will not pretend it is. But the saving has to come from somewhere, and it is always one of these four places.
Stock sizing instead of your template
The largest single saving, and the one you notice first. A standard mould cannot follow your hairline, so the perimeter lifts and the coverage area is approximate.
Machine knotting instead of hand-tied
Fast to produce and structurally fine, but it cannot grade density or build an irregular front row. This is why cheap patches look dense and blunt at the hairline.
Processed hair instead of cuticle-aligned
Stripped and re-coated hair looks correct for a few weeks, then develops the plastic shine and matting that gives a system away. It is the fastest-ageing shortcut of the four.
No grey blending
Grey is sorted by hand and priced per percentage. Skipping it means either a black patch against greying temples, or dyeing your own hair every month to match.
Pricing questions
- Why do hair patch prices vary so much?
- Three things drive the number: hair (Indian human hair is cheapest, single-drawn Remy costs more, European hair most), base (skin is cheapest to make, full mono and hybrid bases cost more labour) and size. Density and grey blending add to it.
- What is the ongoing cost after the first system?
- Budget for a service visit every three to four weeks and a replacement system every six to twelve months. Tapes, adhesives and remover add a modest monthly amount.
- Is a cheap patch ever worth it?
- A stock patch under ₹6,000 will fit approximately, look dense at the front and last a few months. It is a reasonable trial, not a long-term solution. If you have worn one and disliked it, that is usually a fit problem rather than a hair-system problem.
