The process
Step 1
Consultation
We look at your hair-loss pattern, scalp condition and how you style your hair, then agree the coverage area.
Step 2
Template & hair match
A cling-film template of the loss area plus a hair sample for colour, curl and grey blend.
Step 3
Manufacture
The base is cut to your template and knotted by hand at the density we agreed.
Step 4
Fitting & haircut
Attachment, trim and style, plus a walkthrough of how to remove and re-bond it yourself.
When a hair patch is the wrong answer
We would rather lose an order than fit the wrong system, so here is where this service stops being the right purchase.
A crown or mid-scalp patch is the wrong purchase if your loss has already reached the front hairline. Covering a crown while the temples keep receding creates a visible density mismatch that no amount of styling hides, and you will be paying to replace the patch with a toupee within a year. If your recession is past the mid-scalp, order the toupee now.
It is also the wrong purchase if you are in the early diffuse stage with hair still covering the area. A patch bonded over living hair means bonding adhesive against follicles that are still working. In that situation we usually recommend waiting, or a clip-in topper if you want coverage without commitment.
Aftercare schedule for a hair patch
The purchase price is only part of what you commit to. This is the servicing rhythm that keeps a hair patch at the top of its lifespan range rather than the bottom.

| Weeks 3-4 | First re-bond. Perimeter deep-clean, scalp check and a hairline trim. This is the visit that sets your ongoing interval - shorter if you sweat, longer if you do not. |
| Monthly | Full base clean and adhesive strip. Left in place, cured adhesive hardens the base edge and is what causes early perimeter tears. |
| Month 6-9 | Front refill. The leading two centimetres always thin first; refilling them is a fraction of the cost of a new unit and buys months. |
| Month 8-12 | Replacement or repair assessment. We will tell you plainly when a base has too many repairs in it to be worth another. |

Custom Hair Patch — questions we get asked
- Will a hair patch look obvious?
- Not if the density and hairline are right. Most patches look fake because they are over-dense at the front. We knot the first two centimetres single-strand and slightly irregular, so the hairline reads as skin, not a wall of hair.
- How long does one patch last?
- Six to twelve months of daily wear, depending on base type and how you wash it. Skin bases last the shortest, mono bases the longest.
- Can I exercise and swim in it?
- Yes. Tell us at consultation and we will use a breathable base and a stronger bonding system.
