Women's Hair Topper vs PRP Therapy

The same man in three-quarter view: diffuse frontal and crown thinning on the left, the same head with a fitted hair system on the rightBeforeAfter
What coverage looks like when it is specified correctly — the question underneath women's hair topper versus prp therapy.

The short answer

Often the right answer is both, in that order

Diffuse female thinning is the one situation where PRP has a genuine case: the follicles are usually still present, just miniaturising, which is exactly what PRP acts on.

The catch is time. PRP takes three to six months to show anything, and results vary widely. A topper covers the parting today. Many of our clients wear a clip-in topper while running a PRP course underneath it — the topper is removable, so it does not interfere.

Best forWomen with diffuse thinning who still have hair around the sides and back.Early diffuse thinning where follicles are miniaturising but still present.
Wrong choice ifA topper does not work if the hair around your thinning area is no longer strong enough to hold clips. Clip attachment relies on healthy anchor hair, and forcing clips into fragile hair causes exactly the traction damage you are trying to avoid. If your loss is diffuse across the whole scalp, a full wig is the safer route.Any area that is already bald. There is nothing there for PRP to act on.

The case for each

Women's Hair Topper

A clip-in or bonded topper for women with a widening parting, thinning crown or post-partum and thyroid-related hair loss. Made to your parting, not a generic mould.

In its favour

  • Silk or mono top so the parting looks like your own scalp
  • Pressure-sensitive clips positioned to avoid traction on fragile hair
  • Lengths from 10 to 22 inches, blended into your own ends
  • Fully removable — nothing bonded unless you ask for it

Against it

  • A topper does not work if the hair around your thinning area is no longer strong enough to hold clips. Clip attachment relies on healthy anchor hair, and forcing clips into fragile hair causes exactly the traction damage you are trying to avoid. If your loss is diffuse across the whole scalp, a full wig is the safer route.
  • It is also the wrong answer during the peak of post-partum shedding if you want a bonded piece. We will fit clip-in during that phase and re-check at three months, but we will not bond onto a scalp that is actively shedding.

PRP Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood and injected into the scalp to strengthen follicles that are miniaturising but still alive.

In its favour

  • Non-surgical and uses your own blood
  • Can genuinely thicken hair that is thinning but not gone
  • Combines with anything else you are doing

Against it

  • Does nothing on a bald area — it needs a living follicle to work with
  • Results vary widely between individuals and are hard to predict
  • Ongoing cost with no end point

How we would decide it with you

At a consultation this is settled by looking, not by discussing. We assess the loss area in daylight, check the hair around it, and ask how you actually live — how much you sweat, whether you ride, whether you swim, whether anyone sees you at conversation distance all day.

We sell hair systems, so read the verdict above with that in mind — but we turn away work regularly when the alternative is genuinely the better answer, and we would rather tell you that now than after you have paid us.

Still not sure which?

Tell us your stage of loss and we'll give you a straight recommendation between these two — including when the answer is neither.

Women's Hair Topper vs PRP Therapy — FAQs

Women's Hair Topper or PRP Therapy — which is better?
Neither is universally better. Diffuse female thinning is the one situation where PRP has a genuine case: the follicles are usually still present, just miniaturising, which is exactly what PRP acts on.
Which costs more, hair topper or PRP?
Women's Hair Topper: ₹10,000 – ₹45,000. PRP Therapy: ₹3,000 – ₹8,000 per session, 6–12 sessions a year. Comparing headline prices is misleading on its own — the number that matters is the twelve-month cost including servicing and replacement, and the two options are rarely on the same replacement cycle.
Can I switch from one to the other later?
In most cases yes, and plenty of clients do exactly that. Nothing here is a permanent commitment except surgery and micropigmentation, both of which are worth being certain about before you start.
