Comparison
Tape Attachment vs Liquid Adhesive Bonding
BeforeAfterThe short answer
Self-managed and gentle, or secure and technician-applied
Tape comes off at home, is kind to the scalp and costs little to maintain. Liquid adhesive is dramatically more secure, survives sweat, gym and swimming, and needs solvent and usually a technician to remove.
Climate decides this more than preference. In Mumbai humidity a tape rated for ten days realistically gives five to seven; in Pune it often reaches its full rating. If you sweat heavily or exercise, adhesive is not an upgrade, it is the only option that works.

The case for each
Tape Attachment
Double-sided medical tape around the perimeter. Removable at home, gentle on skin and the easiest system to self-manage.
In its favour
- Self-serviceable
- Kind to the scalp
- Cheap to maintain
Against it
- Loosens fastest in humidity
- Not ideal for contact sport
Liquid Adhesive Bonding
Waterproof liquid adhesive across the bonded zone. The most secure attachment available and the one we use for gym-goers and swimmers.
In its favour
- Most secure
- Swim and gym safe
- Flat, invisible perimeter
Against it
- Needs solvent removal
- Best applied by a technician
How we would decide it with you
At a consultation this is settled by looking, not by discussing. We assess the loss area in daylight, check the hair around it, and ask how you actually live — how much you sweat, whether you ride, whether you swim, whether anyone sees you at conversation distance all day.
Both options above are things we make, so there is nothing for us to gain by steering you. The wrong specification costs us a remake and costs you a year, which is why we template before we quote.
Still not sure which?
Tell us your stage of loss and we'll give you a straight recommendation between these two — including when the answer is neither.
Tape Attachment vs Liquid Adhesive Bonding — FAQs
- Tape Attachment or Liquid Adhesive Bonding — which is better?
- Neither is universally better. Tape comes off at home, is kind to the scalp and costs little to maintain. Liquid adhesive is dramatically more secure, survives sweat, gym and swimming, and needs solvent and usually a technician to remove.
- Which costs more, tape attachment or liquid adhesive bonding?
- Tape Attachment: Attachment method. Liquid Adhesive Bonding: Attachment method. Comparing headline prices is misleading on its own — the number that matters is the twelve-month cost including servicing and replacement, and the two options are rarely on the same replacement cycle.
- Can I switch from one to the other later?
- Yes. We keep your scalp template on file, so a replacement can be ordered on a different specification without re-measuring. Plenty of clients keep two systems on rotation with different builds to compare them in real wear.
